Matalan launches ‘very comfy’ £8 activewear that’s ‘really luxurious’ for winter

Matalan has launched a new activewear range that’s perfect for getting back into the gym, with prices starting from just £8 and a 20% discount available for members

With January in full swing, many of us have hit the reset button on habits that aren’t best serving us, seizing the New Year as a chance to get back on track with our fitness goals. And Matalan has recently introduced a brand new range that not only balances function with style, but affordability too. Designed with ‘confidence, comfort and style at the forefront’, Matalan’s Souluxe athleisure range comprises a collection of performance-led gym pieces along with relaxed active wear staples.

Another sought-after activewear brand is Lululemon, whose Lululemon Align High-Rise Pants are highly popular and are now on sale from £34 instead of £88. These are available in 11 sizes and four different lengths, offering even greater variety for shoppers.

While the softer hued sets at Matalan have been highly popular, the brand also has a range of monochrome sets, with many adorned in bold animal prints, like this striking £28 borg zebra jumper. The ultra-soft piece is made from plush teddy fleece in a tonal mink and brown zebra pattern and cut with a funnel neckline for extra warmth.

Shoppers have loved it for being ‘cosy comfortable and a great length’, with another remarking: “Beautiful jumper lovely and soft.”

For a similar look, Debenhams currently offers this Zebra Print Half Zip Jacket Teddy Fleece Pullover Jumper Sweatshirt for £13.99, though it only comes in two sizes, unlike Matalan’s which comes in four.

Effortlessly chic, the wide-leg joggers paired with matching longline hoodies create a relaxed yet refined silhouette, perfect for transitioning from Pilates to everyday errands. The Souluxe Rose Wide Leg Jogging Bottoms cost £22 and are ‘so soft’, according to shoppers.

One said: “I love these trousers they are so soft and a fantastic price I will buy other colours,” while another added: “Love these so much, I searched in every colour. So soft, feel really luxurious for the price.”

Funnel necks are hugely popular right now, too – especially in the chillier weather – and this Souluxe Burgundy Zip Funnel Neck Sweatshirt is priced at £22 and crafted from 49% cotton. It features ribbed trims alongside practical side pockets, making it perfect for workouts or commuting.

However, it hasn’t won over everyone, with one gym-goer noting: “Nice fabric, but style did not suit me. It is shorter than I expected – perhaps it’s the style. Also has very wide sleeves.”

Contrasting this, however, one fan stated: “Fantastic material, elevated sportswear look. Roomy so sized down. Great quality for price.”

Among the most budget-friendly options in the range is this Souluxe Rose Sports T-shirt at just £8. It delivers a relaxed, comfortable fit with a classic crew neckline and short sleeves, making it an adaptable piece that works well with other sports separates from the Souluxe line.

“A really nice t-shirt for the gym,” commented one person, who added: “Light and airy, does not need ironing. Right length to cover everything and loose enough to feel comfy.”

Though one shopperfelt the length wasn’t quite right for them, remarking: “I already have a couple of Souluxe tops, in the black and grape colours. I thought this would be the same. But it is shorter, too short for me, who likes a longer length, and the others were shaped at the hem, this isn’t.”
