A huge fire has broken out near villages and towns this evening, with smoke seen for miles.
The blaze is taking place at Scout Moor, between Ramsbottom and Whitworth, and can be seen in both Greater Manchester and Lancashire. Pictures and videos shared on social media show thick plumes of smoke billowing from the scene. Residents in Bury have also reported seeing the fire from the Wood Street, as well as in Rochdale.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance, along with crews from Greater Manchester. The cause has not yet been confirmed. The fire service have not yet issued a statement.
