Plusnet Mobile is closing down this month, with customers no longer able to use their Sim card from their June billing date – and you’ll only have 40 days after this to keep your number

Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert.com (MSE) website has urged Plusnet Mobile customers to switch to another provider “as soon as possible” or risk losing your current number.

Plusnet Mobile is closing down this month, with customers no longer able to use their Sim card from their June billing date. It means their Sim card will become inactive once their service has stopped working. MSE has issued an urgent warning as you’ll only have 40 days from your June billing date to switch to a new provider and keep your phone number.

The MSE team said: “After that, you’ll no longer be able to transfer your existing mobile number to a new firm – it’ll be gone for good.” You can text the word “PAC” for free to 65075 to receive the code needed to switch your number across to a new provider. Once you’ve received this code, you’ll need to give it to your new network within 30 days.

Your service will be cancelled by Plusnet once you switch, and you’ll be told if there are any outstanding charges you need to pay. You can contact Plusnet about your existing deal on 0800 079 1133. Plusnet, which is part of BT Group, will continue to offer broadband and home phone packages. Plusnet stopped offering new mobile deals to customers in May 2023, and those with existing contracts were given the option to switch without any penalties, even if they were in the middle of their contract.

A spokesperson for Plusnet said: “We have been contacting customers since May 2023 to let them know our Plusnet mobile service is closing. We have now confirmed that this will close for customers throughout June 2024. Customers looking for an alternative mobile service can take advantage of exclusive EE SIM only deals with all the great value of Plusnet and the speed and reliability of EE. There is still time for Plusnet customers to move to EE and keep their mobile number.”
