Marks and Spencer has added a new product to the shelves and it seems to be a hit with customers
Marks & Spencer has got customers excited after a new product and a classic item making a comeback hit the shelves. What’s more, shoppers seem to have already decided they love it.
The high street retailer has launched a new product and brought back a shopper favourite. The new item is being labelled “the UK’s first dessert sandwich”.
M&S first created a social media sensation last summer when it revealed its Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme Sandwich, drawing inspiration from Japanese fruit sandos. The sweet offering became an immediate success, with over 75,000 sold in just five days as Foodhall customers rushed to purchase one.
Now M&S is hoping history repeats itself by reintroducing the original sandwich – and unveiling a new Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio Creme Sandwich. The limited-edition treat combines British strawberries with pistachio creme and Fairtrade Belgian chocolate sauce, sandwiched between cocoa-enriched sweetened bread.
The original Red Diamond Strawberry & Creme Sandwich showcases what M&S calls the UK’s sweetest strawberries matched with whipped cream cheese inside soft sweetened bread. The returning classic costs £2.80, while the new chocolate and pistachio alternative is priced at £3.50.
Customers first noticed the latest creation appearing in stores this week, with food social media account NewfoodsUK posting a picture of it online. One shopper remarked: “I won’t rest until I find it.”
One delighted customer who had already got their hands on one commented: “I’ve just had one and it was delicious x.” The launch is part of a broader strawberry and pistachio-themed collection arriving in stores this summer.
Alongside the sandwiches, M&S has also introduced two new dessert dips for its much-loved picky bits range. The Strawberry and Cream Fruity Dip (£3.25) blends strawberry compote with whipped cream, full-fat soft cheese and Greek-style yoghurt.
Meanwhile, the Chocolate and Pistachio Velvety Dip (£3.75) features chocolate ganache combined with pistachio creme and finished with crunchy pistachio pieces on top. M&S has described the new Chocolate, Strawberry & Pistachio Creme Sandwich as “the UK’s first dessert sandwich”.
According to the retailer, the sweet treat brings together ripe British strawberries with smooth pistachio creme and indulgent Belgian chocolate spread.
