Emergency services were called to Huyton and Prescot Golf Club in Merseyside on Sunday night after reports of an assault, which left the victim with injuries to his face and ribs

Two individuals are in custody following a violent assault near a golf course.

The victim was rushed to hospital for treatment to facial and rib injuries following the incident at Huyton and Prescot Golf Club in Merseyside. Officers rushed there at 9pm on Sunday evening after receiving reports of an attack close to the fairway.

A 50-year-old man and a 43-year-old man have both been arrested on suspicion of section 18 wounding. Both remain in custody awaiting questioning by detectives, reports Liverpool Echo.

Investigations into the incident continue. Local residents witnessed a significant police presence in the area on Sunday evening, with sections of Fairway cordoned off.

Officers with Merseyside Constabulary canvassed the neighbourhood seeking witness statements and doorbell camera footage. One patrol car was still stationed at the scene as of 6am this morning. Anyone with information can contact Merseyside Police social media desk via X or Facebook @MerPolCC.
