A man is fighting for his life in hospital after falling from a bridge over the M60 in Greater Manchester.

Emergency services rushed to the scene between the junctions for Denton and Ashton-under-Lyne amid reports of a ‘concern for welfare’.

A stretch of the motorway was fully closed off in both directions as police and paramedics responded to the incident at around 8.30pm on Monday evening (June 15).

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said officers were called over reports of a man “on the wrong side of a bridge” and he fell onto the motorway.

He was rushed to hospital from the scene, the GMP spokesperson added. He remains there in a critical condition.
