The man was found at around 4.35am on Saturday, May 10, outside a passport office in Liverpool city centre and died a short time later in hospital – but is yet to be identified

Police are urgently appealing for witnesses to contact them after a man died outside a Passport Office in Liverpool this weekend.

The man, believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s, was found on Old Hall Street in the city centre after suffering a medical episode at around 4.35am on Saturday. He died a short time later in hospital. Officers have since shared further details on the man, who is yet to be identified despite their initial enquiries. In a statement issued on Monday, Merseyside Police described the man who died as white, 6ft tall, of large build, aged around late 20s to early 30s, with brown hair and a brown beard. He was dressed in a dark North Face T-shirt with diamond patterns, grey jogging pants, black jacket and dark Nike trainers.

Officers also shared an image of a man they believe had accompanied him that morning. Detective Inspector Mike Fletcher said: “Sadly the man died following a medical episode and his death is being treated as not suspicious. “However, we are continuing with our enquiries to identify him so we can inform his next-of-kin of his death. “If anyone thinks they know a man matching his description please contact us as a matter of urgency.”

On Sunday, May 11, detectives released images of a man they believe was with the deceased male earlier in the morning on Saturday. He can be seen dressed in a black and green jacket, black joggers and trainers. Detective Inspector Fletcher added: “We are appealing for the man pictured to please contact us to help identify the man who died.

“We are treating him as a potential witness and believe he was with the man in the area of Old Hall Street earlier on Saturday morning. Likewise, if you recognise this witness in the images, or were passing or live nearby and have any information which will assist us then please get in contact.”
