Police were called to Westquay shopping centre in Southampton after reports of a man having fallen from a height – he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene

A man has died after falling from the roof of a popular shopping centre.

Hampshire Police said officers were called to Westquay shopping centre in Southampton on Monday to reports of a man having suffered a fall from a height. Emergency crews raced to the scene shortly before midday.

Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have now launched an investigation and the man’s family have been informed.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “We were called by colleagues from the ambulance service at 11:39am on Sunday, November 30, to reports of a man having suffered a fall from a height at Westquay on West Quay Road in Southampton.

“Sadly, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

“Officers are conducting enquiries to establish the circumstances that led to this incident.”
