Michael Barron, 38, was allegedly killed by a man ‘motivated by high-risk sexual activity’, prosecutors claim
A man was allegedly killed during “high-risk sexual activity” after meeting up with a man on Grindr, a court was told.
Michael Barron, 38, and Josh Baxter, 28, met on the dating app Grindr in January last year. Minshull Street Crown Court heard how the pair exchanged details and arranged to meet at Baxter’s flat to have sex. Jurors were told that Baxter encouraged Mr Barron to drink so much alcohol he rendered himself unconscious.
The court heard how Baxter restrained Mr Barron face-down on the bed, lay on top of him for a “prolonged period” and allegedly strangled and choked him with such force that he fractured a bone and cartilage in his neck. Mr Barron subsequently suffered from cerebral hypoxia, caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, which led to a cardiac arrest and his death, the court heard today.
Afterwards, Baxter is alleged to have searched on Google : “If you accidentally kill someone by strangling them in sex do you go to prison”. He also allegedly searched the following: “purple face while sleeping” and “if someone died during kinky sex would you go to prison”.
