Officers arrested the 27-year-old man two days after the woman, aged in her 20s, was allegedly attacked at a car park close to a hospital in Worthing earlier this week
Police have arrested a man after a woman in her 20s was allegedly raped near a hospital in a town centre car park.
The woman is said to have been attacked at Lyndhurst Road car park in Worthing at around 8pm on Wednesday. Two days later, on the evening of March 13, police detained a suspect, who remains in custody. Sussex Police are continuing to investigate the incident and the victim is being supported by specialist officers.
Police have appealed for any witnesses or those with information to contact them quoting Operation Blyth.
A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “A 27-year-old man has been arrested, following a report of a woman being raped in Lyndhurst Road car park, Worthing, around 8pm on Wednesday 11 March. He remains in custody at this time. The woman, in her 20s, continues to be supported by specialist officers.
“We wish to thank the public for their support and information, which has been of assistance to the investigation, and continue to ask anyone with any information that may be of relevance to contact us online or via 101 quoting Operation Blyth.”
