Bosses of the retail chain say customers should not have to ‘choose between value and quality’
A major supermarket chain has slashed the price of some of its vegetables to just 37p, It says it has launched the offer to help people with the weekly shop, saying they should not have to “choose between value and quality”.
The move follows on from some specatacular price cuts of seasonal veg across all the major supermarket chains in the days before Christmas which saw carrots, potatoes, parsnips and sprouts on sale for just pennies. Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s all had the offer in December with shopper grabbing enough veg for the festive meal and more for less than £1.
Now, Morrisons has today announced it is cutting the prices of select seasonal veg to just 37p, at a time when household budgets are under pressure. Shoppers can take advantage of the new limited-time offer in Morrisons stores nationwide and online from now until February 1.
The offer includes curly kale, cabbage, green beans and potatoes. It says it aims to make healthy produce more affordable, helping its customers fill their baskets with fresh veg for less, with savings of up to 66 per cent.
Included in the offer are Morrisons British White Potatoes (1.5kg), Morrisons British Sliced Curly Kale (150g), Morrisons British Savoy Cabbage and Morrisons Fine Green Beans (170g).
The new deal on greens follows Morrisons latest price cut announcement earlier this month. This saw the supermarket dropped the prices of over 2,500 products across its stores nationwide and online, including fresh fruit, veg, meat and fish, everyday kitchen cupboard staples and cleaning essentials.
James Judd, Trading Director of Produce & Horticulture at Morrisons, said: “We believe customers shouldn’t have to choose between value and great quality fresh food. By cutting the cost of some of our most popular veg to just 37p, we’re helping families eat well for less while staying true to our commitment to support produce farmers.”
Morrisons added that it is dedicated to protecting farmgate prices while reducing the cost for customers. The deal is available in-store and online until 1st February 2026.
