A major search has been underway in Plymouth after reports of a missing child.

Officers and a police helicopter have been scouring a major UK city this evening in a desperate search for a nine-year-old child. The youngster was reported missing earlier this evening (Saturday, April 18), sparking a huge response from emergency services.

Plymouth Police said earlier this evening the force has launched a search for a missing child. At least six police cars and a helicopter were spotted in the Barne Barton area of the city at around 7pm today.

Officers were also seen combing the Tamar View community complex and on Estuary Way, where the helicopter was also operating overhead.

In an update,a Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson told Plymouth Live that the child had “gone for a wonder” but was thankfully located safe and well within the hour.
