A key motorway has ground to a halt after a “major incident.”
The incident happened near Weston-super-Mare on Saturday evening leaving traffic on the north and southbound carriageways at a standstill.
One person has said: “M5, standstill both ways between J21 and J22”. Another driver said: “M5 at a standstill in both directions between junction 21 and 22 due to a major incident”.
Someone else said: “M5 stopped northbound, about two miles from junction 21. Ambulance not long gone past”.
A picture from the scene shows all lanes blocked. Some people have even opened the doors with little prospect of moving.
