Witness saw ‘multiple vehicles’ at ‘very serious’ incident
Traffic cameras show long tailbacks in all three lanes as one witness has said the crash involved “multiple vehicles” and looked “very serious”.
Another witness told reporters that there was a “crash between Cullompton and Exeter.” National Highways said the M5 has been closed southbound in Devon following a collision, and traffic has also been stopped northbound to allow an air ambulance to land.
Roads and traffic monitoring site, Inrix, reported the crash at 11.43am. It said: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident on M5 Southbound from J28 A373 Honiton Road (Cullompton / Service Area) to J29 A30 Honiton Road (Exeter / Honiton).”
The extent of the crash is not known at this time. Emergency services have been contacted for further information.
