The M1 was closed in both directions following a major incident yesterday evening.
Shortly before 9.30pm on Saturday, May 17 the M1 in Bedfordshire was closed in both directions between junction 12 near Flitwick and junction 13 near Bedford due to a Police led Incident. Bedfordshire Police officers rushed to the scene while National Highways Traffic Officers were also in attendance to assist with traffic management.
Motorists were stuck for “hours” following the incident, diversions were put in place in both the northbound and southbound directions and drvers were urged to avoid the junction 13.
The nature of the incident is not yet known. The Mirror has contacted Bedfordshire Police and the East of England Ambulance Service for comment.
This blog is now closed following the reopening of the road at 12.10am.
