A four-year-old girl has tragically died after a horror blaze tore through a home in Northumberland on Monday night – leaving a woman in her 20s and a two-year-old in hospital.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on Kingsley Road, Lynemouth, at around 9.30pm yesterday following reports of a fire. Despite the desperate efforts of fire crews, the young child was found inside the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

A woman in her 20s and a two-year-old girl also suffered injuries and were given medical treatment before being taken to hospital, where they remain in a stable condition. The young victim has not yet been named.

A police cordon remains in place as officers continue their investigations, with detectives urging anyone with information to come forward. Detective Chief Inspector Louise Jenkins described the incident as “absolutely devastating” and offered condolences to the child’s grieving family.

She said: “This is an absolutely devastating incident in which a young girl has tragically lost her life. All of our thoughts and condolences are with her family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Enquiries remain at a very early stage, and with the support of our partners from Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service we are determined to establish exactly what happened.

“We are asking anyone with information – no matter how small or insignificant it may seem – to come forward and share what they know.”
