There are many hacks to keeping warm as the mercury drops, among them electric blankets. But another option for adventurous shoppers comes in the form of a heated throw, with one from Amazon reviewed thousands of times and described as a ‘winter lifesaver’ that is ‘very economical’ too, according to shoppers who own one.

The Cosi Home Luxury Heated Throw is available from Amazon for £42.99 for the single size, discounted by 14% from its full price of £49.99. The single sizing is 160 x 130 cm, while the double one is 200 x 150cm and priced at £64.99, reduced from £74.99, but colours and prices may vary for the double option.

The brown throw is double-sided with micro-fleece, a warm and fluffy fabric for comfort, and is described as being the perfect accessory for snuggling on the sofa, or for use on a bed. The brand also says it is cost-effective to use, claiming it costs only 3p per hour to run, based on October 2023 estimates.

Super-soft throw slashed from £70 to £19 is ‘like sleeping on a marshmallow’

It has a 10-hour programmable timer, and also comes with an automatic cut-off feature, meaning shoppers can decide when they want the throw to turn off, in case they fall asleep or forget to unplug it. For heating settings, shoppers can choose from 10 adjustable settings to warm them accordingly, using what the brand says is the ‘easy-to-use’ remote. With soft-touch buttons, the remote also has a modern digital screen and the single throw is said to be perfect for two adults to use.

As it’s machine washable, it can be popped in the washing machine with ease, with the remote and charging cable fully detachable. There are various colour options for shoppers to peruse too, but with different price points. The cream option – single – is also £42.99, while the green colour is £49.99, and the single mustard is £46.99.

This single throw in brown has a 10-hour timer and 10 heat settings for shoppers.

Heated blankets and throws have grown in popularity, so shoppers can also look to Dunelm for options. It has the Teddy Electric Throw priced between £40 and £75, depending on the size. The olive green option, sized at 130cm x 160cm is £40. This throw has a plush teddy bear texture, the description says, and a 278cm cable, with other colour options like redwood, teddy charcoal and teddy cream also on offer.

At Argos, the Home Pink Heated Throw is £50, and for this price shoppers will get six heat settings, a five-minute heat-up time, the brand says, and a nine-hour timer with a two-hour auto shut-off.

With more than 11,800 reviews on Amazon, the Cosi Home Luxury Heated Throw has plenty of feedback. One five-star review said: “I’ve been using my Cosi Home heated throw blanket for about a month now, and I absolutely love it. It warms up quickly and makes me feel so comfortable, especially on chilly evenings. The fabric is super soft, and the heat settings let me get it just right. It’s become my go-to blanket for relaxing on the couch – highly recommend”.

One customer declared their love for the product, explaining: “This electric throw is a winter lifesaver – super cheap to run (just 2-3p/hour), warms up fast with nine heat settings, and the luxe faux fur feels amazing. Timer and overheat protection for safety. Love it – highly recommend!”

While for another person, the quality is a standout, as they said: “Really worth the money, bit of a luxury purchase but you won’t be disappointed with the quality. Heat the person and not the room and all that, so has been a great present for all of the cold people I know! Very economical in terms of electricity consumption. Luxuriously fluffy on one side and velvety fabric on the other. Made well with high quality stitching and the fluffiness hasn’t diminished with use. Heats up quickly with nine different heat levels. You can leave it on constantly or use the timer to set it on from 1 hour up to 9 hours. The electrical cord can unclipped for cleaning etc.”

One owner of the green throw had notes on the cord, saying: “The green matches my wall exactly. So far so good, heated up quickly, only complaint is the wire isn’t very long and it’s a little smaller than expected it to be. The material is lovely and soft though, and the control is easy to navigate.”

While for someone else, heating time was mentioned, as they said: “Really nice size, takes a while to heat up and controls aren’t the easiest but overall happy with this.”

The Cosi Home Luxury Heated Throw is available from Amazon.
