Dolce & Gabbana’s L’Imperatrice has been a hit since its launch in 2009, and now it’s better than half price when you buy the larger bottle
Perfume enthusiasts are buzzing over a designer scent that’s snagging attention with its better-than-half-price offer for the larger bottle. The crowd-pleaser, L’Imperatrice, launched back in 2009 to adoring fans, is now a steal at Debenhams for just £30.50, which tallies up to a saving of 64%.
It costs £66 at The Perfume Shop, with Superdrug coming in at £31. This vibrant and effervescent fruity floral delight is garnished with notes that reportedly lift spirits high. Bursting open with kiwi coupled with the tangy twist of rhubarb and spiked with a hint of pink peppercorn, it promises an invigorating start.
The scent then transitions to a mellow heart, mingling watermelon with soft cyclamen and aromatic jasmine. Anchored by a robustly woody foundation, it boasts blondwood, lemon wood, sandalwood, and musk.

Drawing an impressive average score of 4.8 out of 5 from more than 33 reviews on Debenhams’ website, this scent has clearly left a mark. One shopper gushed: “Lovely scent that smells so fresh. Asked countless times what perfume I wear.”
Another happy customer exclaimed: “Great perfume for any time of day use. Usually buy D&G Light Blue so thought I would try this perfume for a change. Love it! Nice floral fragrance, perfect to the workplace, for going out or just to make you feel good. Suitable for all ages (I’m in the over 60’s bracket) but it smelt good on a younger relative. Not overpowering,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
A particularly enchanted reviewer enthused: “What a lush scent this is – feminine yet strong but not overpowering – I get a lot of positive comments about this when I wear it.”
One shopper gushed about their new find: “I was looking for a new perfume as I have worn the same one for 15 years or so. I really love this as a change. It has a light smell very fresh and not heavy at all. It lasts well even though it’s not EDP. Very pleased. I bought another one too.”
However, not everyone was enamoured, with a less satisfied customer stating: “I fell into the hype of this perfume and the good reviews (and the price). Unfortunately I don’t like this scent very much, it is light and it’s a good everyday perfume because of the it being very light but the same is quite alcoholic and musky. The fruity smell in my opinion doesn’t last very long and it doesn’t match well with my skin. If you are looking at this because of the trend go in a shop first to try it.”
Those who appreciate Parfum de Marly’s Delina might also enjoy this fragrance, as it shares some similar notes, although L’Imperatrice lacks the distinctive lychee note. L’Imperatrice is currently available for £30.50.
