After weeks of relentless sun and soaring temperatures, London and the southeast have woken up to a dramatic shift in mood today with heavy clouds rolling in and rain drenching the capital – sparking a yellow weather warning by the Met Office.

The forecaster says thunderstorms and heavy showers may bring some disruption throughout Thursday across the East, South East, South West and London. It warned: “Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

“Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.”
