You need to act soon to qualify for the bonus cash from Lloyds

Lloyds Bank has spelled out some of the details related to its current account switching offer. The bank is paying eligible customers a £250 bonus if you move over your current account to them.

To qualify for the extra cash, you will need to move your current account to either a Club Lloyds, Club Lloyds Silver or Club Lloyds Platinum account. The switch must be completed using the Current Account Switch Service, which means shutting down your old account.

You will also need to have a minimum of three active direct debits transferred across. Once yo have ticked all the boxes, the £250 will drop into your account within 40 working days of your switch, showing up as a cash credit.

With the promise of free money on the table, many banking customers may be thinking of making the move to Lloyds. However, one customer recently flagged an issue with their application on social media.

They said they had started the switch through the app and they thought they had successfully submitted their details. But things had gone silent afterwards.

The customer explained that “I never got an email or anything” confirming the switch was under way. Lloyds replied to clarify some of the timescales customers should expect.

7-day rule for switchers

The bank clarified: “After submitting a switch application in the app, you should receive a confirmation email. Please check your spam/junk folder if you haven’t received it yet. The switch process usually takes up to seven working days to complete.”

However, the customer said they already knew all this. They went on to ask: “Is there any other way to check? I had put in all the details of the account to switch and I had got as far as possible with no more buttons appearing/boxes to fill I’m sure it said checks would be done?”

How to check your switch status

Lloyds then offered some additional advice, telling the customer: “If you didn’t receive a confirmation email, the best way to check your switch status is by contacting our Switcher Team for personal customers on 0345 604 9956. They’ll be able to assist you further.”

This helpline is available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, but shuts shop over the weekend. If you’re eyeing up that £250 bonus from Lloyds, the clock is ticking.

You need to open your new account and start your switch by February 3 to bag the offer.
