One Lloyds customer said they had received more than one email

Lloyds Bank has provided clarification regarding emails being sent to customers. A customer approached the bank for help as they were confused about a message they had received concerning their finances.

The individual questioned: “Why do you keep sending me emails about my (excellent) credit score? What does it achieve? Do you want me to spend more money or something?” The dissatisfied customer added that the messages were “getting quite tiresome”. Lloyds replied to explain the purpose behind these communications. The group said: “Those emails are meant to keep you informed about your credit health and flag anything unusual, rather than encourage extra spending.”

Better rates

Lloyds also told the customer: “A good score can help you access better rates when you do need credit, but there’s no expectation to take anything out.” There is further guidance about credit scores on the Lloyds website.

The information page says: “When you apply for credit, lenders and service providers check your credit record as part of their decision-making process. Depending on the type of borrowing, if you have a good credit score, you’re more likely to be offered better interest rates and higher credit limits.”

This follows the Lloyds Banking Group issuing a ‘speak to us today’ message to its customers. A notice was spotted in the Lloyds Bank branch in Devizes, actually targeted at Halifax customers.

Signs put up in branches

The sign stated: “Hello Halifax customers? Did you know? You can use Lloyds branches to manage your Halifax account. Speak to us today.”

Both Lloyds Bank and Halifax are part of the Lloyds Banking Group, along with Bank of Scotland. The banking group was approached for a comment regarding the signage.

A spokesperson for Lloyds Banking Group said: “We’re always looking for ways to make banking easier and more flexible for our customers. So last year we offered Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland customers the option to use branches of any brand for their in-person banking, alongside our apps, mobile messaging, and telephone services.”
