Spellow Lane in Everton, Liverpool, has been cordoned off after ambulance and police raced to a block of flats where they found a 65-year-old man who was rushed to hospital but has since died

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 65-year-old was rushed to hospital and later died.
Emergency services were called to Spellow Lane in Everton on Tuesday evening and there are now several police cars and vans at the scene. It is understood that they were called to an address on the road at 6.10pm following reports of a concern for safety.
A police spokesperson said: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following an incident at an address in Walton this evening (Tuesday, 26 November). Emergency services were called to an address on Spellow Lane at about 6.10pm following reports of a concern for safety.
“Ambulance and police attended at the property and a 65-year-old man was taken to hospital, where he died a short time later. Another man, aged 52 years, from Toxteth was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station, where he will be interviewed by detectives.
“An investigation is underway into the death which is currently being treated as unexplained. Crime scene investigators will be carrying out forensic examinations at the scene and house-to-house inquiries are underway.”
Spellow Lane is currently blocked off and a cordon is in place near to the junction with Goodison Road. A police officer at the scene said it was a “serious incident” but could not give further details at this stage.
The cordon appears to be between Salop Chapel and Spellow Lane flats where the focus of the police presence is based. Officers are currently standing outside the block of flats on the road. Three ambulances also arrived at the location earlier.
Photos show the police scene near to Goodison Park in Everton this evening. Residents have also been standing in the street questioning police about what has happened.
Officers can be seen coming and going from a block of flats, where residents have been told they’re not allowed to leave while investigations are carried out.
