A supermarket shopper has wowed Lidl fans with his trick for a 17p breakfast deal. The Lidl customer enjoyed a budget-friendly breakfast using his Lidl Plus app at the checkout till, as demonstrated in a viral social media video.
Posting the hack, a TikTok user known as @Costoflivingcrisistips demonstrated how he snagged a blueberry muffin and a banana for less than 20p. As seen in the clip, the customer started his shop by looking for the cheapest item in sight, a 17p banana.
When he scanned his Lidl Plus app at the checkout till, he won a free muffin through the ‘Lidl Plus Bakery Spin,’ which offers customers a ‘win with every spin’ during the limited-time promotion. According to the supermarket, shoppers can win a free bakery item every day until February 25.
Lidl’s website explains: “From February 12-25, shop and scan your Lidl Plus app at the checkout to play. Every spin of the in-app wheel will win you a tasty, free treat from the Lidl bakery. Check the Coupons section of your app and choose one of the tasty treats included in your coupon from the Lidl bakery.”
For each spin, shoppers receive one of ten free bakery coupons. The categories include popular breakfast and lunch items, such as a croissant or pizza slice, as well as snacks, such as a cookie or a cinnamon bun.
As such, customers can enjoy their bakery item with their breakfast or lunch, as demonstrated by @Costoflivingcrisistip. In the viral video, the money-savvy shopper told viewers: “17p for a muffin and a banana, bargain. This is how you do it.
“So get down to Lidl and then do your usual shop, or just buy the cheapest item. I usually buy a banana for 17p, take it to the till, pay for it, and then use my Lidl Plus app.
“Lidl have a special offer on at the moment from today, February 12th to February 25th, where if you scan your Lidl Plus app with any purchase, you get to enter a competition called bakery spin to win, and it basically means you win a free bakery item with every purchase.
“And if you know Lidl bakery, you know there’s loads to choose from, so it’s a good deal. I won a filled muffin or a toffee yum yum. So after you purchase your item, it usually takes up to 24 hours, but I find it’s instant.
“So as soon as I buy the banana, I spin to win on the app, and then I just go back to the bakery section and get my free item. So I got a muffin here that’s 89p, and I got it for free.
“So I got a muffin and a banana for 17p. Now that’s what you call a breakfast bargain. There’s loads of prizes you can choose from, so get down to Lidl.”
The video has earned over 80k views and thousands of likes. Replying to the post, one fan said: “Great work, bargain 17p.” Another impressed viewer replied: “Wow!” and someone agreed: “Decent breakfast for 17p!”
