One Direction star Liam Payne dies aged 31

Liam Payne had been on holiday with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in the days leading up to his tragic death last month at the age of just 31.

The couple had been to see Liam’s former Oner Direction bandmate, Niall Horan, perform in the South American country and continued to enjoy their time in Argentina before Kate left her partner to continue his trip solo. In the days following Liam’s heartbreaking death following his fall from the third floor balcony of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Kate explained why she had left.

Liam first found fame back in 2011 when he appeared on The X Factor with fellow One Direction stars, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall and Louis Tomlinson. The band went on to global domination, conquering both the UK and US charts as well as becoming huge stars across the world. Liam and Kate were on holiday in Argentina but she said: “I was so ready to leave. Love South America, but I hate staying in one place for too long and we were supposed to be there for five days, turned into two weeks and I was just like, ‘I need to go home.'”

Liam chose not to go with her but Kate didn’t specify a reason as to why. Instead, she showed off her luxury flight home which included a steak meal. She also showed her boarding pass, made a joke about how her seat number was “1D,” much like the band of her boyfriend. Kate also admitted that she usually travels with a Squishmellow, but had given hers to Liam. About 48 hours after the social media post, Liam was found dead after falling from his third floor hotel room.

Three people have since been charged following Liam’s tragic death on October 16. Liam died from multiple traumas leading to an “internal and external haemorrhage”. A toxicology report stated that Liam had anti-depressants and cocaine in his system at the time of his death – despite having been clean from drugs just days before. But in the weeks after his death, three people are currently under investigation as local police forces attempt to get to the bottom of how Liam was in possession of illegal substances. However, it’s since been claimed that Liam had asked a hotel employee to secure “seven grams” of “cocaine” prior to his death.

It’s claimed that Class A drugs were smuggled to Liam’s hotel room, disguised in a Dove soap box. Hotel staff have since stated that only employees have access to the location where the soap supplies are held. One of those charged, is said to be Liam’s friend Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, who was with Liam on a daily basis.

Nores also attended a sold-out Niall Horan concert with Liam and his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy during their Latin American getaway. However, Nores refutes the allegations that he abandoned the late singer.

According to a statement from the the National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office, one of those charged is the individual who “accompanied the artist on a daily basis during his stay in the city of Buenos Aires”. That person is “charged with the crimes of abandonment of a person followed by death – contemplated in article 106 of the Penal Code and which provides for a prison sentence of 5 to 15 years -, as perpetrator, in ideal concurrence with the supply and facilitation of narcotics (art. 5 inc. e) of Law 23.737 on Narcotics).” The second person is a hotel employee, with them being charged with “two proven supplies of cocaine to Liam Payne during the period he was at the hotel”. And the third person, who is also a supplier of narcotics, is “charged with two other clearly proven supplies at two different times on 14 October.”

“Both were charged with the offence of supplying narcotics, two acts each (art. 5 inc. e) of Law 23.737),” the statement said of the second and third person. Liam’s friend, Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, has previously identified himself as the main charged with abandonment but vehemently refutes the allegations.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, he denied claims he was under investigation connected to Liam’s death. He declared: “I never abandoned Liam, I went to his hotel three times that day and left 40 minutes before this happened.” Nores went on to say that he had given a statement to police as a “witness” on October 17. He later claimed he hadn’t spoken to “any police officer or prosecutor ever since.”
