NASA’s recent mission around the moon has seen a huge increase in searches for Lego kits to build your own Artemis rocket, and this £55 model has seen a 320% increase in sales

After spending 10 days in space travelling around the moon, the Artemis rocket has successfully touched down on Earth again, and its return has sparked a brand new craze of its own. Following the success of the NASA mission, sales of the Lego Technic NASA Artemis Space Launch System Rocket 4 have skyrocketed (pardon the pun) by a huge 320% at Argos week-on-week, making it one of the top models to build right now.

Priced at just £55 it’s the perfect kit for adults and kids alike. Designed for ages nine and up, it teaches kids all about the Artemis SLS programme and the moment a rocket launches, as well as being a great piece of history to keep in your collection.

The Lego Technic NASA Artemis Rocket 4 has 632 pieces and was designed in collaboration with NASA to demonstrate exactly how a rocket separates during its launch. Once you’ve built the spacecraft, you can turn the hand crank to see exactly what happens during the launch with three distinct stages that were used to launch the Orion spacecraft capsule.

It comes with four Lego astronaut nanofigures included to represent each of the crew members on the mission, and there’s even an information panel to help kids learn all about the mission and its crew. Measuring 70cm high, 16cm long and 3cm wide when the Lego Technic NASA Artemis Rocket 4 is built, it’s not only a great learning tool for younger builders, but it’s a great addition to any grown-up Lego fan’s space collection too.

If you want something more elaborate, the detailed NASA Artemis Space Launch System is £219.99 with a huge 3601 pieces, and was designed for builders aged 18 and over. This highly detailed model includes a multi-stage rocket with two solid-fuel boosters, an Orion capsule and an intricate mobile launch tower.

Alternatively, you could pick up this scale model of the NASA Artemis Space Launch System from Revell which is now on sale for £42.52, and lets you build and paint the rocket. Great for model builders of all ages and skill levels, this is a great way of getting ultra hands-on.

Elsewhere, the CaDa Nasa Artemis Space Launch System Rocket is a 659 piece construction set that’s priced at £39.99. It includes plenty of realistic features including NASA designation, engines and imitation ignitions, as well as moveable elements.

However the £55 Lego Technic NASA Artemis Rocket 4 has been well-received by fans, who’ve given it a 4.9 star rating out of 5. One said: “It’s such a beautiful piece of lego set, really enjoy building it, it’s like a mini spaceship, impressive.”

A second said: “This is such a cool toy! It’s perfect for both kids and adults who love to build. The rocket design is really neat and looks awesome. Definitely a fun addition to any collection.”

Whilst another wrote: “My first Technic Lego for my husband. A space geek so this NASA Artemis space Launch Rocket was right up his street. This is just so clever, the build as always was simple and easy to follow. The clever moving mechanism based at the bottom to separate the boosters is genius. My husband had fun building this!!”

The only review that wasn’t five stars was still a four star one, which said: “This was a good build didn’t take to long to build the only problem is the actual rocket is many pieces and you can see all the joining holes in it.”
