The time has finally come. After more than a decade of writing articles on Seeking Alpha, I’m excited to announce that I will, at long last, be launching my very own Investing Group – Tech Investing Decoded.

This service delivers actionable, in-depth research to a community focused on the best investment ideas in tech, with an emphasis on cultivating and maintaining deep knowledge and understanding of current tech trends and, more importantly, those trends that have yet to enter the mainstream. By connecting those trends to the companies best positioned to benefit, we build a concentrated portfolio around the highest conviction opportunities.

I have spent more than a decade analyzing tech companies and have demonstrated a track record of identifying trends before they hit the mainstream, including, among others, predicting AMD’s turnaround way back in 2017 and calling the memory supercycle in 2024.

In Tech Investing Decoded, we’ll navigate technology’s intersecting web to uncover and capitalize on long/short opportunities while utilizing options to hedge risk and amplify returns.

And to show my appreciation, early adopters will receive a discounted price of $799 when you sign up within 31 days of launch.

Why Now?

So, after 10-plus years, why now? My main reason is pretty simple: The technology sector is exploding in popularity due to the promise of outsized returns, but understanding and staying up-to-date on all of the relevant companies and industries becomes more difficult by the day. There’s so much information out there in the news and on social media that it can be difficult to parse through the noise and genuinely assess the future.

My goal with this service is to illuminate this vast technology landscape by explaining concepts and covering companies in a clear and concise way with a focus on actionable analysis rather than speculation and fluff.

Why Choose Tech Investing Decoded?

The technology sector holds endless possibilities for growth and value creation, yet I see many investors chasing returns by buying shares in companies they don’t really understand and jumping on trends into which they have little or no visibility. This is a recipe for long-term capital erosion.

In contrast, Tech Investing Decoded will focus on discovering transformational shifts in technology before they become apparent to the wider market through deep fundamental research at the company and industry levels. It’s my philosophy that one should understand a technology and a company’s past, present, and future before investing hard-earned dollars, and that is the ultimate objective of this service.

Using this strategy, since I began tracking my portfolio progress in September 2024, I’ve made 10 Strong Buy calls – their average performance to date is 234.6%, which represents a relative alpha of 200% compared to the S&P 500 over that same period:

My Philosophy

I didn’t create this process overnight. It was honed by years of research, trial and error, and learning to put aside emotion in favor of objectivity. One of my most important breakthroughs was conquering what I call the “house money” fallacy.

To illustrate, I’ll pose a question: Why is it easier to continue to hold a stock that has gone up 100% rather than buy a stock that has done the same? They’re fundamentally the same decision, yet holding after a substantial gain feels easier. Many investors are content to choose the inaction rather than action, worried that they could potentially sell a profitable position too early or buy a high-flying stock right before it drops.

I believe this is misguided.

My service aims not only to avoid these pitfalls and fallacies but also to take advantage of a market that remains beholden to them, especially in this era of momentum and volatility.

A Subscription Gives You Exclusive Access To…

Who Is Tech Investing Decoded For?

The service is, first and foremost, for investors who are interested in the type of technologies that are reshaping the market and society at large; AI, semiconductors, networking, memory, optics, etc. are just the ones making waves today, and we’ll cover them extensively, but we will also discuss up-and-coming innovations that have yet to become visible to the broader market.

Company research will be continuous and comprehensive. I won’t throw a ticker or trade alert at you without first reviewing the what, how, and why of a move coupled with a time horizon and a risk assessment.

I’m also of the opinion that wealth is best built through concentrated, aggressive moves on high-conviction ideas; our portfolio will have a small number of core long equity holdings, long and short options, with the potential for short equity holdings as well if the opportunity presents itself.

This is a strategy that intrinsically lends itself to significant swings and volatility, so subscribers should be aware of these risks before signing up. But through extensive research, hedging, and agility, we will bias these swings and volatility to the upside and to our benefit.

A Little About Me

I go by Kumquat Research on Seeking Alpha, but you can call me Jeremy. I have a double degree in finance and computer science, have passed all three levels of the CFA exam, and have spent a decade working in the fintech space as a data engineer.

Technology has been my sector of choice since way back in the mid 2010s when I was cutting my teeth following and researching the chip battles between Intel and AMD, which eventually led to the latter’s resurgence. Needless to say, I was hooked.

But more than that, I realized how important it is to have and build a community of like-minded investors to stress-test your ideas and provide alternative perspectives. This is my ultimate goal in starting Tech Investing Decoded.

What You Can Expect From Me

Transparency: You will know immediately when I buy, sell, or change my thesis, and I will answer any and all questions about my research, trades, and ideas.

Honesty: Not every idea will work. I will be straightforward and reflective about mistakes and missteps so we can improve our strategies as a community.

Community: I will actively participate in the chat, quickly respond to direct messages, and encourage subscribers to challenge my thinking. Different perspectives strengthen a thesis and are the primary benefit of an investing community.

Depth: Research will focus on deep knowledge of the underlying company rather than reacting to headlines. We’re in the business of understanding what makes a trend tick so that we can find and predict the next trend before the market catches on.

Get 20% Off at Launch

It has been a goal of mine for a while now to build a community of like-minded investors with whom I could share my ideas and, in return, receive feedback, insight, and critique. It feels like a dream come true for this to finally be reality.

For years, I’ve had people ask and encourage me to create such a group, and it’s because of this belief that this launch is happening. So to show my appreciation for those who have helped me achieve this goal, I’ll be starting Tech Investing Decoded at $799 per year for all who sign up within the first 31 days of launch, with the price increasing to $999 after that window.

And once you’re subscribed and locked in, future price increases will not apply, and you’ll continue to pay your original rate.

You will also have the option to cancel your subscription within the first month for a full refund on the remaining 11 months should you decide to leave for any reason whatsoever.

Thank you

Whether you decide to become a member or not, I appreciate you taking the time to read this article and learn about me and this nascent community. After more than a decade of preparing for this moment, it’s quite surreal that it’s actually here.

Thank you, truly.

And if you’re an investor who wants to go beyond the headlines, understand the technology behind the opportunity, and build a high-conviction technology portfolio, I’d love to have you join me on this journey. If not, the door is always open, and best of luck in all your investing endeavors.
