Multiple people have been confirmed as injured at Kuwait International Airport
Kuwait International Airport has confirmed that multiple people have been injured after a following a drone attack.
The Middle East airport has reported that multiple people have been injured following a drone attack hitting the passenger people building.
It follows Iran’s retaliation attacks in the Middle East after early morning strikes by US and Israeli forces today (February 28).
Officials say the situation is “under complete control” despite damage being caused to the airport.
In a statement on X, The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the State of Kuwait stated, through its official spokesperson Abdullah Al-Rajhi, that a drone targeted Kuwait International Airport.
The spokesperson also confirmed that ’emergency procedures’ were put into place adding that the ‘safety of passengers and workers represents the utmost priority’.
The full statement reads: “The General Authority of Civil Aviation in the State of Kuwait stated, through its official spokesperson Mr. Abdullah Al-Rajhi, that a drone targeted Kuwait International Airport, resulting in minor injuries to a number of workers, in addition to limited material damage to the passenger building (T1).
“The spokesperson clarified that the competent authorities immediately began implementing the approved emergency procedures, where the incident was handled and the site secured, and evaluation, treatment, and operational operations rearrangement works are currently underway in accordance with the highest safety standards.
“The Authority confirmed that the situation is under complete control by the concerned authorities in the country, and that the safety of passengers and workers represents the utmost priority. The Authority added that it will inform the media of any updates as soon as they become available through official channels.”
