A mum who was tragically killed in a horror crash while Christmas shopping has been named for the first time as her family paid tribute to her.
Lin Donnelly, 72, died in a road traffic collision on the border of Bootle and Kirkdale, Merseyside, on December 12. Emergency services were called to Brewster Street at 7.45pm following a collision involving a blue Ford Focus and the pedestrian.
The mum was taken to the hospital, where she sadly died a short time later. Now, Lin’s family paid tribute to her saying: “Words can’t describe the pain in our hearts at the unbearable loss of you. Our life will never be the same without you.”
A 46-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He has been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries, Merseyside Police said.
Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy from the Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Our thoughts remain with the lady’s family at this tragic time and they are being supported by a specially trained officers. Although we have made an arrest, the investigation into this incident is ongoing and in its early stages. I would appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
“I would like to specifically appeal to the drivers of a silver-coloured BMW 1 Series and a small black vehicle, possible a Fiat 500, that were travelling along Brewster Street towards the city centre shortly before 7.45pm. I believe that the occupants of these vehicles may be able to provide vital information.”
He added: “I would urge others in the area at the time, please check your dashcam footage, including those who drove through the area, in the minutes following the collision. If you live in the area, please review your CCTV or smart doorbell footage just in case you captured anything. Even if you think it’s insignificant, please let us know as it could be vital to our inquiries.”
