Marcin Majerkiewicz, was today found guilty of brutally murdering Stuart Everett before sickeningly chopping his body up and dumping his remains in various locations

Stuart Everett, remembered by loved ones as a “unique and endearing character” suffered a terrible end before being dismembered into 27 pieces. And his killer’s sickening lies left his family thinking he was still alive.

Marcin Majerkiewicz has today been found guilty of brutally murdering 67-year-old. The disturbed killer bludgeoned his housemate to death before cutting his body up with a hacksaw and dumping the parts in different areas across Salford and north Manchester, the court heard.

An investigation was launched into the man’s murder in April last year, after his torso was discovered in Kersal Dale, Salford. The two men, both of Polish heritage, lived together in Stuart’s home in Worsely Road, Winton, Greater Manchester, with Majerkiewicz renting a room. Vile Majerkiewicz – who has characters from gory films tattooed on his body, including Jason from Friday the 13th and the Predator – deposited the victim’s heart and genatalia into separate bags.

Jurors heard how three plastic bags containing human remains were discovered on nearby Chesterfield Close. One bag contained thigh skin and muscle, genitalia and part of the lung and skin. A second bag contained a kidney, skin and further muscle while a third bag contained the heart and part of the right lung.

Police officers’s six words to suspect after man found cut into 27 pieces and scattered in Salford

Jason Pitter, KC, prosecuting, told the jury that Mr Everett’s lower torso and thighs were found in a wooded area within Kersal Dale nature reserve in Salford on April 4 last year. He said: “They had been hidden in an abandoned bunker there wrapped in cling film. For obvious reasons it was not known who that person, or who those parts belonged to, was.

“What was apparent was that it must have been a man who had been, it transpired, sawn into pieces. That initial gruesome finding was to trigger investigations that led to, a number of weeks later, further parts, including parts of his skull, and ear over various locations in the Greater Manchester area.”

In further agony for Stuart’s family, who initially had no idea he was dead, Majerkiewicz assumed his victim’s identity, even sending text messages and a birthday card to his family and using his finances. The court heard that Majerkiewicz and Stuart’s close bond allowed the killer to steal his identity after his death.

Jason Pitter KC, prosecuting, said: “That precise nature of the relationship with Stuart is not entirely clear. What can be said is that they were close, as evidenced by some of the communications, in particular from Stuart. That closeness, it would appear to have enabled the defendant to access and take some control of the identity of Stuart Everett, in particular e-mail and telephone services, especially after Stuart Everett’s death.”

He continued: “Messages were sent to people including family members, calculated to give the impression that Stuart Everett was still alive. That included exchanges with Mr Everett’s niece to wish her a happy birthday, but sent in terminology which was not consistent to have been from him. That would be correct of course given the message was sent on April 16 when he was already dead. It also included messages to his brother to give the impression that he was in the process of moving to a different address from Worsley Road.”

On 3 April, Majerkiewicz researched the address of Mr Everett’s brother in Derby to send a birthday card to him pretending to be Everett, the court heard. This birthday card had the killer’s fingerprints on and read: “To Rich, happy birthday and all the best my old man 🙂 Benny xxxx.”

The victim’s brother Richard Ziemacki gave a witness statement saying that he had initially “not noticed anything unusual”, going by his messages and the card he received. However, on reflection, he told police: “I do not recognise the handwriting as belonging to my brother,” adding that his brother would not have used the phrase “my old man”.

Police traced and arrested Majerkiewicz after discovering CCTV footage of him carrying a heavy plastic bag before dumping the torso at the nature reserve. Stuart’s lower torso and thighs were found nearby in a wooded area, just metres from where children had been playing nearby.

In a skip outside the property, police found a hacksaw blade in a black bin bag which contained Stuart’s blood. Police also searched the nearby property of Majerkiewicz’s partner where they found a Rug Dr carpet cleaner with blood-stained skin and bone fragments, matching Stuart, stuck in the front guard, the court was told.

Tragically, just one-third of Stuart’s remains have been recovered so far. In a statement issued through Greater Manchester Police, Stuart’s family previously said: “We as a family are united in our grief over the devastating news of Stuart’s untimely death and the manner in which he died.

“He was a unique and endearing character who always put his family and many friends first. He loved his food, his garden, his music and a flutter on the horses, we have been overwhelmed with the messages of support and are thankful that so many people thought so much of him. He did not deserve to die the way he did and will be eternally missed. RIP.”

Today, Rebecca Macaulay-Addison, specialist prosecutor for the CPS North West’s Complex Casework Unit, said: “Marcin Majerkiewicz murdered Stuart Everett before making a despicable and disturbing attempt to cover his tracks by disposing of Mr Everett’s remains. He went on to concoct a web of lies to further conceal his barbaric crime.

“Majerkiewicz not only stole a loved one from those who cared for Mr Everett – his subsequent actions are almost certain to have compounded their pain and suffering. Our thoughts remain with Mr Everett’s family for the loss they have endured, and we hope today’s conviction will provide some sense of justice for this unspeakable crime.”
