In a surprisingly candid admission last year, William spoke about his five-bedroom home of Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, and revealed which surprising member of the family joins the Prince and Princess of Wales in their bed each night

While Prince William and Kate are planning their big move to Forest Lodge, they still call Adelaide Cottage home: a charming five-bedroom home on the Windsor estate.

The Prince and Princess of Wales have lived in the picturesque house for three years with their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – as well as their beloved family dog, Orla, the cocker spaniel.

While much of their private family life has been kept behind closed doors, on a royal outing last year, William candidly revealed the unusual sleeping arrangement he has with Kate and one other surprising bedroom guest. It comes after Meghan Markle sends telling ‘message’ to royals with bold move in Netflix show.

William made the revelation as he petted a well-wisher’s dog during a visit to Duchy College in Cornwall last year. As he chatted to Louise Harland and stroked her dog Jacks, she said that the prince told her that Orla often sleeps on the bed alongside the royal couple.

Louise told Hits Radio Cornwall: “[William] said that his little dog sleeps on the bed with them at night, with him and Kate. [He was] absolutely in love with my little dog. He asked what breed he was and he’s never met one of those breeds, he’s a Cockerjack, so he’s a little bit of a unique combination.”

On William’s birthday this year, Kate shared an adorable photo of William and Orla, as well as Orla’s litter of new puppies.

The black cocker spaniel – gifted to the family by Kate’s brother James Middleton in 2020 – recently gave birth to four puppies. The photo of William, Orla and her brood was taken by the Princess in Windsor earlier in June. The caption reads: “Happy birthday! Love C, G, C, L, Orla and the puppies!”

It seems the Wales family have other animals too in addition to their dogs. Last year, William visited Woodgate Valley Urban Farm, where he got to meet a range of animals – including some very cuddly guinea pigs.

The prince got to pet them and was also allowed to brush the fur of one called Snowflake. And he told some of those he met at the farm: “These guys are pretty cool. We’ve got guinea pigs at home and they are not like this.

“I have to spend my life cleaning out the guinea pig cage because the children forget to do it. And then they run off because you have to handle them all the time, that’s why these ones are so calm. The ones we’ve got at home, they’re off. You have to keep them constantly stroked and looked after.”
