When Kate Middleton first wore her pink gingham blouse back in 2022 it was a sell out sensation, and now Brora has re-released the exact design just in time for spring

We’re all familiar with Kate Middleton’s effortlessly chic outfits, with the Princess of Wales always looking stylish and put together for her formal public appearances whether it’s a day visiting a charity or a formal royal event. But Princess Catherine’s off duty outfits are just as enviable, as she often nails a more laid back look that has us all rushing to replicate.

If you ever needed reminding that Kate’s casual wardrobe is as timeless as her occasionwear, let her red gingham blouse be the perfect example. The Princess of Wales first wore her Brora Cotton Gingham Chelsea Collar Blouse back in 2022 whilst decorating cakes with her children, in a video posted on the Kensington Royal Instagram.

Thanks no doubt to the ‘Kate effect’ – which sees almost anything she wears sell out instantly – the £129 Brora Gingham Blouse sold out, and has remained pretty difficult to get your hands on ever since. That’s why we were thrilled when we spotted it had finally been restocked on the Brora website, and is currently still available in all sizes except an 18.

Gingham is one of the top trending prints for spring this year, and it proves just how good Kate is at picking pieces that are timeless and never truly go out of style. Despite it being three years since she first wore the blouse, it’s just as on-trend and stylish now as it was then.

Apart from its gorgeous pink and white gingham print, the blouse has a Chelsea collar with frill details and a flattering subtle V-neckline which give it a feminine edge. The short cuffed sleeves also have some volume to them, giving the blouse a little extra drama whilst still being sophisticated and understated.

The Brora Gingham Blouse has also been praised by shoppers, who’ve left glowing reviews for it. One wrote: “Such a comfy blouse, love everything about it, the fit, the length, the collar the sleeve length! Would have bought the red and navy but not keen on the zig zag taping.”

Whilst another gave their list of positives and negatives, writing: “Highly recommended, gives summer vibes with a countryside theme twist. + breathable, all materials are 100% cotton + has a lining! + didn’t shrink after washing – the pattern doesn’t match that well and if you pay attention you can see it in the front of the dress. Not a biggie, but beware if it’s smth that bothers you. – the sizing is made for more “straight silhouette”, so I had to size up to a 14 because it clung to my hips and pooled at the back in a weird way and then I had to use a pin to gather the excess material around the waist.”

If you prefer a longer sleeve, Nobody’s Child’s Pink Gingham Birdie Blouse is a great alternative. Priced at £59 it’s slightly more affordable than Kate’s Brora one, but features a similar v-neck frill collar and gingham print, but with longer voluminous sleeves that are great for the slightly cooler weather.

For something a little bit different, the £60 Fay Smocked Jersey Shirt from Boden is a great option. You can choose from a range of prints, including pink and white stripes and multi-coloured paisley, it features a high smocked neck and gathered frill sleeves.
