Princess Kate Middleton may have had a major influence on the ongoing feud between Prince Harry and Prince William, a royal expert has claimed, who added that the future Queen ‘was right’ about one particular thing

It has been no secret for the last few years that things between Prince William and his younger brother Prince Harry have been pretty icy. However, after the brothers’ difficulties, an unexpected olive branch from Kate and William on Harry’s 40th birthday gave renewed hope to royal fans that there might still be a possibility of reconciliation somewhere on the horizon, no matter how far off that might be.

Since stepping back as a working royal, Prince Harry has not held back about his grievances with some of his family, the royal households, and the press – and he has been pretty candid about some of the things that have caused strain in his relationship with his older brother, some of which he traces all the way back to their shared childhood. A royal expert has claimed that the recent surprise birthday well wishes may have been initiated by none other than Princess Kate, who the expert believes “was right” about one key aspect of the warring brothers’ feud.

The expert, former royal correspondent for the BBC, Jennie Bond, explained to OK Magazine that in her view, Kate was a key component in sending Harry a public message for his landmark 40th birthday, which sees the Duke of Sussex enter a new decade of his life in California. Bond argued that Kate’s recent video message, which announced that she had completed her course of chemotherapy, indicated a fresh perspective on what is really important in life, which may have helped motivate her husband William to agree to send his brother the birthday message.

Kate said in her video message “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything. This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted: of simply loving and being loved.”

Bond explained to the magazine that these sentiments may have influenced the decision to send this public olive branch to Harry, “In the moving film [Kate] made about the end of her chemotherapy treatment, she spoke about how cancer had given her a new perspective. What clearly matters to her more than anything now is family, and loving and being loved. Perhaps she has persuaded William that life is too short to bear grudges forever.”

The expert added however that this doesn’t mean a full reconciliation is on the cards just yet for the two estranged brothers, but noted that in her view Kate “was right” that at the end of the day family is what matters most. “While the brothers may never be close again, or even live on the same continent, it doesn’t mean that the future has to be full of bitterness and bad blood. Catherine is right. Family should always be paramount,” said the expert.
