The Prince and Princess of Wales are enjoing a day at the races together today – marking Kate’s first appearance at Royal Ascot since 2023
The Princess of Wales has made her long-awaited return to Royal Ascot after missing the prestigious race meeting for the last two years.
William and Kate, who is wearing a striking canary yellow dress by Roksanda and the late Queen’s earrings, are enjoying a day at the races in the company of the King and Queen and will spend their time in the royal box after taking part in the traditional carriage procession, where Kate was forced to hang on to her hat.
The procession is a long-held feature of the sporting event that heralds the start of the day’s sporting entertainment described as “thrilling action on the track” by Charles and Camilla in the official programme.
Spectators in the grandstand saw the couple ride along the course and other guests include the King’s niece Lady Sarah Chatto and political commentator Rory Stewart. They join other racegoers at Royal Ascot including Kate’s mum, Carole and her sister-in-law Alizee Thevenet, who is married to the princess’s brother James.
Charles and Camilla, who today is in a cream button coat dress by Dior and a Philip Treacy hat, will have hopes of a Royal Ascot win when their horse Point of Law runs later in the Queen’s Vase. They saw their thoroughbred Reaching High well beaten on Royal Ascot’s opening day in the Ascot Stakes as thousands of racegoers cheered on their horses.
