The department store is transforming 32 in-store restaurants with new menus featuring pizza, deli and bakery options by 2027

John Lewis is poised to roll out a major transformation across 32 of its outlets. The department store has partnered with catering firm Benugo to refresh their dining spaces following a two-year planning period.

The overhaul is planned to be fully implemented by 2027. All the revamped restaurants will prioritise fresh, premium-quality fare. The updated menus will feature deli options, bakery items and artisan pizza choices, all utilising locally-sourced produce.

John Lewis’ redesigned in-store eateries will operate under a fresh brand identity and title, which will be unveiled when the initial six locations undergo their makeover this summer.

The first outlets to experience the transformation include the fifth floor of the flagship Oxford Street branch in London. Chichester, Bluewater, Norwich, Nottingham and Reading also form part of the opening wave, reports the Express.

Construction is scheduled to begin between May and June this year, with all 32 restaurants reaching completion by 2027.

John Lewis director of services and hospitality Katie Papakonstantinou commented: “Our customers will benefit from a fresh and exciting John Lewis hospitality experience as we reimagine how we use the space within our stores.

“Our plans look amazing, and our restaurants and cafés will offer delicious food and drinks combined with the personal service that our customers expect and deserve.”

She continued: “We’re excited to share even more details ahead of the first of the new spaces opening later this year.”

Benugo founder Ben Warner remarked: “We’re incredibly proud of our longstanding partnership with John Lewis, and we’re excited to be growing it to create an exciting new brand.

“At Benugo, we care deeply about great food made with fresh, quality ingredients that are thoughtfully sourced and rooted in local suppliers.”

Benugo presently operates cafés throughout the UK in iconic venues such as the Natural History Museum, St Paul’s Cathedral, Loch Ness, Edinburgh Castle and Regent’s Park.

The firm also runs restaurants and bars at destinations including ABBA Arena, Warwick Art Centre and Windsor Great Park.
