Anyone looking for a stocking filler to gift a beauty enthusiast this Christmas, John Lewis may have the perfect present

John Lewis shoppers and Benefit beauty fans can now get a deluxe gift set that includes four of the brand’s most popular products for under £20. Ahead of Christmas, and in time for the release of its 2024 festive advert, John Lewis is selling a Benefit Premium Lash, Brow and Skincare Set for just £19.21 – reduced from £24.

This gift set could be the ideal choice for anyone looking to purchase a luxurious present for a beauty lover without breaking the bank. The Benefit Premium Lash, Brow and Skincare Set contains Bad Gal Bang Mascara, Fluff Up Brow Wax, The Porefessional Lite Primer and The Porefessional Speedy Smooth Gel-Clay Mask.

Shoppers can enjoy a fun-size version of Bad Gal Bang Mascara, which is described as a 36-hour “full-blast volumising” mascara, which creates “massive volume without weighing down lashes”. The “gravity-defying” formula contains aero-particles, one of the lightest known materials derived from space technology.

The Fluff Up Brow Wax is a clear, crunch-free and creamy flex-wax that creates fluffy, full and natural-looking brows. The formula is “buildable” with a reworkable hold for versatile shaping before drying down clear with a natural matte finish.

Meanwhile, the Porefessional Lite Face Primer is made with a special blend of “pore-blurring” powders to instantly minimise, blur and “refine the look of pores for 12 hours”. It also boasts of a 73% water-based formula for “gentle, cloudlike lightness”.

The final item included in the set is the Porefessional Speedy Smooth Gel-Clay Mask. A description of the product on John Lewis’ website reads: “Get a flash facial in five minutes or less with this smoothing mask made especially for pores.

“It visibly refines pores, smooths uneven texture and absorbs excess surface oil to perfect the look of skin. Pores look smaller and skin feels instantly soft and refreshed.”

On its own, a miniature version of the mascara typically costs £12. Meanwhile, Benefit’s Fluff Up Brow Wax Mini 3ml costs £14.50 at Boots. The Porefessional Lite Primer costs £8.50 on its own for a 7.5ml tube and the Porefessional Speedy Smooth Gel-Clay Mask is £18 at Boots.

Altogether, the price of buying each item individually would come to a total of £53. But by opting for John Lewi’s £19 bundle, shoppers can save themselves around £34.

Customers have rated the Benefit beauty gift set 4.3 stars out of five, with only six reviews so far. One pleased shopper wrote: “Useful for a quick use at work. Right size for my work bag.”

Another was pleased by the gift set’s miniature sizes as it meant they could test the products before committing to a bigger size. “Great as I can test these properly before buying the full size. So far so good really liking them all,” they said.

A third said the gift set worked well as a present. “Perfect little gift set that was for my daughter for her birthday to add towards other products I bought from benefit,” they put.

Another penned: “I really love the fact I could get these product minis before purchasing as I’ve been wanting to try the mascara especially for ages before purchasing full price! I’ve now ended up getting all of these samples in full size becuase I loved how they elevated my makeup/skincare!! thank you john lewis.”

However, one was unimpressed by the small size of the products, admitting they were not aware they would not be full size. “These were mini size and just pulled together in a clear bag,” they wrote.

If you’re on the hunt for a beauty gift set this Christmas, you’ll find a wide variety of other choices to consider. Boots is selling a Merry Clinique Beauty Gift Set, which is worth £73, for just £43.50.

Superdrug is also stocking Revolution’s Pink Glow Get The Look Gift Set for £15 – it was £30. On Amazon, you can get Sanctuary Spa’s Spa Day Discovery Gift Set, which usually retails at £40 for £24.

Customers have rated the set an impressive 4.7 stars out of five. Anna wrote: “AWESOME product! I got addicted to the body oil and sleep mist! GREATEST! Gives you the feeling of being a luxury queen for the price!”

Glenn said: “Really good value gift for Christmas. Quality is good and scent excellent.” Diane added: “Bought as a gift for good friend she loved it and has since bought more.” TJ put: “All the stuff looks nice quality.”

However, one shopper claimed: “I was disappointed with this set. Only the body butter, pillow spray and sleep balm have any fragrance at all- and the sleep balm and body butter not much. The bubble bath and shower oil barely smell at all.” Another said: “Lovely products but so small! Body lotion bottles are particularly difficult to squeeze.”
