John Lewis has finally dropped its 2025 Christmas advert and says the message is all about thoughtful gifting.
The clip is centred around a teenage son who learns how to reconnect with his dad after gifting him a vinyl of Where Love Lives by 90s dance icon Alison Limerick at Christmas.
After discovering the gift under the tree, the dad heads straight to his record player and drops the needle to play the record.
The music then kicks in and the dad loses himself in the music, as the advert switches to moments from his past, starting with him in a 90s club, before fading to core memories with his son while was growing up.
As the advert switches to the present day, the music shifts to a brand new new cover of the song by Labrinth, before ending with the son and father sharing an embrace. It ends with the strapline: “If you can’t find the words, find the gift.”
The clip, which was created by Saatchi & Saatchi, is centred around music, and John Lewis has confirmed that shoppers will be able to by a new version of Where Love Lives in its stores.
The vinyl, which has been given a brand new club-inspired artwork features the classic version of the song by Alison Limerick on Side A, while Side B presents the reimagined version by Labrinth.
All profits from the £14.99 vinyl record will support the John Lewis Partnership’s Building Happier Futures programme, which helps people who have grown up in care build brighter futures.
You’ll also be able to buy the record player from the advert, alongside all the clothing and footwear that is featured.
