A Jewish man was taken to hospital with injuries to his face and back after he was allegedly attacked by five masked men.

Police were called to a property on The Grove in Golders Green, north London at around 2am on Monday. A 22-year-old Jewish male was rushed to hospital and is being treated for cuts and bruises to his body and face.

The Metropolitan Police said no arrests have been made following the incident, which is being treated by the force as an antisemitic hate crime.

The attackers are said to have been five masked men who chased the victim before allegedly attacking him.

Shomrim, community-led Jewish volunteer civilian patrol organisation said it was “absolutely horrified and deeply disturbed” by the attack.

A spokesperson said: “Following the deeply concerning rise in anti-Semitic incidents and attacks in recent times, this latest assault has caused significant fear and distress across the community. There is absolutely no place whatsoever for anti-Semitic hatred, violence, or intimidation in our society.

“Police have now confirmed that the incident is being treated as a racially and religiously aggravated offence. Due to what was reported during the assault, the investigation is being led by the Hate Crime Unit and remains under active senior oversight.

“Shomrim has remained in close contact with the police throughout the day and continues to actively assist the investigation team with CCTV enquiries. Relevant footage connected to this incident has been obtained by Shomrim and shared with police,” the Sun reported.

Additional patrols have been deployed to the area by Shomrim to reassure and support the community.
