Jellycat fans have spotted an issue with one of the soft toy the brand creates, and many people reckon that if they made this change, they’d make far more money

Jellycat collectors have pointed out that there’s an issue with one of the soft toys – and they’re not happy about it.

Jellycats have risen in popularity over the last few years, with some collectors boasting 100s of the lovable soft toys. They’re cuddly and ultra-soft, and their little faces are so adorable. Some brands have tried to dupe them, but they don’t have the same impact – especially as the brand promises to pay a fair living wage to toy makers.

But when it comes to Bartholemew bear, some Jellycat lovers are not happy. But what is it about the adorable brown bear people can’t wrap their heads around?

One Redditor took to the ‘Jellycat Plush’ thread to write: “Why doesn’t Jellycat sell Bartholomew’s outfits as individual items?”

The baffled buyer showed a picture of their adorable bear with pyjamas on, and they noticed that the pyjamas can be taken off.

“I got my first Bartholomew today and realised I could just take the outfit off. I heard they were sewn on! So now I’m confused about why Jellycat can’t just sell the outfits separately, so I don’t have to buy several Bartholomew’s to have different outfits”, they wrote.

The collector asked: “Does anyone know the reason they do this? I’m assuming it’s just so they can make more money, but maybe they have another reason for doing this?”

For those not in the know, Bartholemew Bear comes with many different outfits and is a hugely popular part of their collection. He can be purchased wearing a robe, a strawberry outfit, a huge fluffy love heart, a bee costume, and many more.

“Yeah, it’s totally just so they can make more $$ and they know people will buy them,” someone mused.

Another fumed: “The joke is on them. I would buy Bart if he had interchangeable outfits, but I don’t like the idea of having to buy a new Bart with every outfit when the outfits are my favourite part, so instead, I just have zero Bart”.

A Redditor shared their feedback, penning: “Aw man. Hopefully, in the future, they will sell his outfits separately because I don’t want a whole army of Bartholomews, lol.”

A woman shared that she’d emailed Jellycat with her feedback, and they said they were considering it. She wrote: “So I actually emailed Jellycat regarding this, and they said they’re considering it for the future. I personally think they’d make MORE money for the outfits separately. They should make some with outfits and sell the outfits separately if they still want a profit.”

Somebody responded: “Imagine if they made them in other sizes too! I’d love this outfit for my Huge Bartholomew.” “I have a medium-sized plain Bart that I got for half off because he’s supposed to be an Eggplant Bart, but someone stole the outfit,” a Jellycat lover joked.

Jellycat declined to comment when approached.
