With glowing reviews, the ‘long-lasting’ and affordable fragrance is perfect for caramel fans

Shoppers have fallen for a £28 fragrance from a high-street store that’s so impressive you’ll swear it’s much more expensive. Reviewers say Lush’s Sticky Dates Body Spray is the “most amazing fragrance” they’ve ever tried.

As one fan wrote on Lush’s website: “I’ve been very tempted to gatekeep this product when people ask what it is but it’s too good not to share.” In the same spirit, I wanted to share my experience using the popular spray.

I treated myself to a bottle of Lush’s Sticky Dates Body Spray at the end of last year — even though I normally stick to Eau de Parfum (EDP) — and I was amazed to find it outperformed many of my expensive perfumes. Just one spritz of the sweet-smelling caramel spray lasts hours, and every time I wear it, I get nonstop compliments.

Recently, a stranger even stopped me in a post office after recognising the scent. “You’re wearing Lush’s Sticky Dates, aren’t you?” she asked. “I have it. I love Rose Jam, too.”

It wasn’t surprising, as on that day, I ended up getting three compliments during my one-hour outing. It’s a common experience for Lush shoppers if online reviews are to be believed.

Reviewing the fragrance, described by Lush as a “velvety blend of benzoin resinoid and sandalwood”, a shopper said: “If you like very gourmand and sweet smells, this is the one. Very long-lasting, more so than many EDP perfumes and I have many compliments when out and about.”

Another praised: “This is the most amazing fragrance I’ve ever worn, it’s incredible. I get compliments wherever I go. The smell is out of this world. I highly recommend this 10/10. Lasts all day and at £28 it’s a good price also, already ordered my next bottle.”

Someone else who uses Lush’s Sticky Dates Body Spray shared: “Tried this in store, only sprayed once and it stayed the entire day. It also projects like a perfume. I was sitting at a coffee shop and I would get sudden whiffs of myself. Really a lovely product.”

However, the strong-smelling scent isn’t for everyone. An unimpressed shopper said: “After seeing so many positive reviews here and on social media I decided to purchase this as I am a lover of caramel and gourmand scents. This just smells like old raisins and black liquorice in the worst way possible.”

Another wrote: “This is the worst body spray I have ever used. It smells nothing like caramel or dates just melted candle wax. Even £3 body sprays smell better.” Someone else thought: “Makes you smell like an air freshener.”
