“It really does work in a matter of seconds – it’s like magic”

When it comes to drinking water, I’m picky. It’s a controversial opinion, but I’d rather have sparkling over still any day of the week. It’s the champagne of the water world, and I won’t hear otherwise.

My love for sparkling water has become something of a point of contention in my friendship group. At a restaurant, I’m always the ‘difficult’ one who refuses to order tap water, and I give absolutely no apology for it.

But always opting for sparkling over tap can quickly add up, and doesn’t my bank balance know it. While I can’t find a solution to the little extra being added to my bill while out and about, I have found a genius solution to satisfy my sparkling water cravings at home by turning water into, well, far superior water.

This solution comes in the form of ProCook’s Sparkling Water Maker with Bottle and Canister, which is currently on sale for £59, down from £69 – a decent saving, even before Black Friday.

I pitted ProCook’s new £300 stand mixer against my beloved KitchenAid

I made a cappuccino, hot choc and iced coffee using ProCook’s new milk frother – it beats Nespresso

It’s similar to Soda Stream’s Terra model, which is currently slashed down from £167.92 to £89.99 online. But ProCook’s own version.

The best thing about ProCook’s Sparkling Water Maker is that it’s portable, and doesn’t use batteries or a mains plug, so you can take it pretty much anywhere (within reason, of course). We don’t have so much as a vending machine in our newsroom, with the nearest shop a 7-minute walk away – so I find this very handy to pop in my bag on the rare occasions I’m in. It means I can make one of my favourite drinks without even leaving the building – a godsend in the cold winter months.

It’s also really easy to use – even for technophobes like myself. To use it, you simply connect the included gas cylinder through the opening of the sparkling water maker, fill up one of the provided 850ml water bottles, screw it in place and push the button. It really does work in a matter of seconds – it’s like magic.

As well as portable, economical, and easy to use, ProCook’s Sparkling Water Maker is better for the environment than continually buying plastic bottles of sparkling water, Wth the screw-in gas cylinder, you have the option to sign up to the CO2 YOU Refill Program via their website, which allows you to refill the gas cylinder to never run out of gas.

If sparkling water gets a little boring, there’s always the option to create your own custom flavours by adding in your desired squash, cordial or flavouring.I’m a big kiwi lover, so I often add a splash of MONIN Premium Kiwi Syrup to mine.

Currently on sale, it’s £11.33, down from £13.20 on Amazon. Keeping with the tropical theme, I’d also suggest trying adding MONIN Premium Watermelon Syrup, which is £9.30, down from £13.20.

These flavoured sparkling waters are also a cheaper option for those looking to cut down fizzy pop consumption. I’m a bit of a Diet Coke fiend, but have been trying to cut down.

I’ve found ProCook’s Sparkling Water Maker a great way of doing this, so it’s two thumbs up from me. My only qualm would be the price.

In all truthfulness, I’m not sure I could justify paying its full £69 price tag. But for under £60, I’d say it’s well worth giving a go if you’re a fan of sparkling water and fizzy drinks. If you prefer tap, though, that’s always going to be the cheapest and healthiest option.
