A money saving account on TikTok – known as Cost of Living Crisis tips, shared his top tips for a three course meal for Valentine’s Day for two people that costs just £2.70

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner – and you don’t need to spend a fortune to impress your partner.

You can spend quality time with your loved ones by going for a nice walk together, playing games or having a cosy night in. And if you’re planning on cooking at home, there are plenty of ways to save money.

A money saving guru, known on TikTok as Cost of Living Crisis Tips, shared how to make a three-course meal for two for just £2.70.

The first thing he did was to grab two tomato and cheese pizzas from Aldi’s Everyday Essentials range for 58p each. “Or you could get a large pizza for 99p, then a couple of garlic breads for 74p from Aldi,” he said in his TikTok video.

He continued: “Then get yourself some dark chocolate – 55p, bargain, and a tin of rice pudding, a classic, 25p. In all, it totalled £2.70 at the till.

As the foodie got home, he put the two pizzas in the oven for eight minutes, and then went on to put the two garlic bread baguettes in the air fryer for five minutes.

For the dessert, he heated up the rice pudding in a pot on medium heat for five minutes. For a final flourish, he added half of the bar of chocolate into the rice pudding. Simply stir to combine and create a decadent dessert.

The TikToker continued: “When the garlic bread is ready, make a love heart out of it [on a plate] and add tomato sauce around the love heart for a nice touch.

“Then when the pizzas are ready, cut a little love heart out of the pizzas. It may take some practice, it’s harder than it looks. Then once you’ve done all of that, it’s time to serve up.”

After plating all of the dishes, he said: “So for the starter you’ve got a love heart garlic bread, the love heart shaped pizzas, and chocolate rice pudding for dessert. Total cost £2.70 bargain. It’s a three course meal and it’s absolutely delicious. All bought from Aldi.”

While some mocked the budget-friendly alternative to eating out, many praised the TikTok creator for creating a thoughtful menu that many can afford.

A commenter said: “People are laughing at this but its the thought that counts. For some people this might be all they can afford.”

And a second added: “Some people are so entitled, this is all some people can afford and it’s the thought that counts!! the effort put into it is the sweetest part, it doesn’t matter that it’s not the nicest ever.”
