I can’t be without it for even one night as it helps me to sleep right through

I’m lying in bed and the ticking clock on my bedside table taunts me as I try to fall asleep. Just as sleep begins to claim me, a car zooms past my house, jolting me back into a wide-awake state. This was my nightly routine until Amazon’s game-changing £25 gadget came to my rescue, revolutionising my sleep quality.

Not only did it take me ages to nod off, I’m such a light sleeper that any noise during the night would rouse me, which is not ideal when you live in a village. Tractors and horses pass by my house at the crack of dawn and our local cockerel a few doors down never fails to welcome the new day at 5am.

I began sleeping with an oscillating fan on to drown out some of the noise, but it wasn’t entirely effective, and it certainly wasn’t practical during the winter months, turning my bedroom into an icebox. That’s when I discovered the Easysleep Sound Machine from Amazon, currently priced at £24.99.

The gadget caught my eye because I’d heard about the benefits of white noise for blocking out sounds while trying to sleep. When I first plugged in the machine, I was thrilled to find it had multiple fan sounds, including one that mimicked the oscillating fan I’d become accustomed to. With its 32 volume levels, the fan sound effect is much louder than my actual fan, ensuring I stay asleep.

The Easysleep machine boasts a diverse range of 25 sound effects, from calming waves and tranquil piano tunes to lullabies and white noise, making it suitable for all ages. Although I initially purchased it as a sleep aid, I frequently use it during my home yoga sessions, with the nature sounds creating a peaceful atmosphere.

The gadget offers five timer settings, spanning from one hour to continuous play. I personally opt for the latter, requiring the fan noise throughout the night to ensure uninterrupted sleep. It’s amazing when I turn it off in the morning and can hear the cockerel and the hum of passing cars – it truly masks all noise.

Beyond its sound capabilities, the device also features a handy nightlight function with four warm brightness modes. This proves particularly useful for those who enjoy a gentle light while reading, or for babies or children who need both sound and light in their room. The machine can be used solely for its sound or light function, depending on your preference.

I find myself unable to go a single night without my noise machine, having depended on it for quality sleep for over a year now. Thankfully, the compact size of the gadget and the detachable wire make it easy to pack into my suitcase, holdall or handbag for holidays or trips away.

The only minor drawback of the machine is a persistent small blue light on the device that signifies it’s switched on, which casts a glow onto the ceiling. However, this isn’t a deal breaker as I’ve positioned the gadget partially under my bed to maintain total darkness in my room.

If you’re interested in trying out the Easysleep Sound Machine, it’s available on Amazon here for £24.99. John Lewis offers a similar product, the LUMI Nightlight and White Noise Machine, priced at £29.99, while Boots stocks the Momcozy White Noise Machine for £44.99, which comes with an app connection feature.
