Sometimes when a brand releases a curated beauty edit, it can occasionally feel like it’s been packed with products that stores have found difficult to shift, or unusual shades and even sometimes discontinued or limited edition products. But one thing I can say for certain is that isn’t the case with LookFantastic, whose With Love Valentine’s Day Edit is nothing short of pure luxury.

I’ve unboxed dozens of beauty boxes in my time as a shopping writer for The Mirror, and this particular one might just be up there with one of my favourites. It may not be overflowing with almost 20 items like some of the Boots edits, but each product feels like it’s been thoughtfully selected for the occasion, with brands designed to impress and evoke a sense of indulgence.

Packed with premium skincare, makeup and fragrance, this haul immediately feels well-rounded, spanning a range of categories. The only thing missing is haircare, but actually, I’m not a huge fan of hair products so that suits me just fine.

I asked 16 celebrities what their must-have beauty product is and this is what they told me

Best No7 makeup and skincare products to buy from Boots according to beauty writers

Priced at £50, the contents are worth almost quadruple the price you pay at £195. Plus, most of the items are full sized, with two being generously-sized travel products.

There’s one product in particular that is not only worth more than the cost of the edit alone, but delivers the dreamiest bathing experience and that, my friends, is the Laura Mercier Bath and Body Oil Ambre Vanille.

Retailing at £62, this oil instantly elevates any pamper night with a rich, nourishing formula and indulgent scent. It smells of amber, vanilla and sandalwood, which lingers on the skin for hours and earns me tonnes of compliments.

Now, I don’t love using bath oils because I find it disrupts my hair wash routine, but I have really enjoyed using an Aveeno Body Oil Spray in recent weeks, giving my winter skin some much needed hydration. By comparison, the Laura Mercier oil, which can be massaged directly into the skin, is the epitome of opulence, and makes it feel like I’ve given myself a little spa treatment.

For the skincare enthusiasts, there are not one, but two 111SKIN Rose Gold Face Masks, worth £20 each. While LookFantastic could have swapped one out for a different product to give a little more diversity, I didn’t mind one bit, because me and a friend will no doubt enjoy using these masks with a nice glass of rosé while binge-watching rom-coms for galentines.

Meanwhile, the Elemis Pro-Collagen Rose Marine Cream is another highlight. I love that they included the rose version over the original, with the packaging and scent feeling very on-theme for the season of love. Worth £38 its lightweight formula absorbs beautifully into the skin, offering hydration and anti-ageing benefits.

For those looking to refresh their makeup bag, the Illamasqua Powder Blush and Iconic London Triple Threat Mascara are welcome additions. I’m already a fan of the mascara and use it often. When it comes to mascaras, they often dry out or expire before you can finish them, so a restock is always welcome.

As for the blusher, the shade ‘Katie’ wasn’t my favourite. It’s a really soft and cool pink, almost lilac colour that reminds me a little of the new Huda Beauty Ube collection, but I found it didn’t suit my skin tone, so I’ll likely give it to my mum or sister instead.

And finally, there’s the Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Cheirosa 68 Perfume Mist. This fruity, floral fragrance is super fun and has earned a cult following. While it’s a lovely scent, it’s not my favourite from their range (number 71 is my go-to), but they are really handy to have in the car or in your gym bag.

Overall, it’s a really nice mix of elevated every day treats and more indulgent products I wouldn’t dream of buying for myself without a very special reason. The Laura Mercier oil alone justifies the price, while the face masks, mascaras and mists make it a beautiful, balanced offering.

Despite being a brand new edit, eager shoppers who have already snapped it up have been leaving five-star reviews about their haul, praising its value for money. One said: “Such a great bundle of items, always need a new mascara, bath oil lush & face masks. Well worth the money.”

Another added: “Received this today. Loved everything about it. The masks are amazing , after one use today, my skin is glowing. Tried the fragrance, loved it, first time using this brand. Have used Iconic London before, first time using the mascara – lovely finish. Delighted I took the plunge and ordered this.”

However, some didn’t love every single product in the collection, though this particular customer still left a five-star rating, even though they weren’t sold by the blush. They wrote: “My main reason for getting this box was Laura Mercier as it is a very expensive brand but I love the body line. Smells and feels amazing. 2 face masks are a great addition to the set and it’s amazing masks. One product I won’t be using is blush as it doesn’t look good on my skin colour and makes me look more ill than healthy. Overall, very happy with the box.”
