Idris Elba is back for a second season of Hijack, and fans can watch it for free. The hit thriller stars and is produced by the Luther star, who reprises his role as business negotiator Sam Nelson.
In the new eight-part season, a Berlin underground train and its commuters are taken hostage, while authorities scramble to save hundreds of lives. Sam (Elba) is at the heart of the crisis on board, where one wrong decision could spell disaster.
Hijack season two is streaming now on Apple TV and can be watched for free with a seven-day trial. After the promotional period, a subscription costs £9.99 per month or £89 for an annual subscription.
Several of the stars from season one return in the new episodes, with Christine Adams, Max Beesley and Archie Panjabi joining Elba. Among the newcomers to the series are Toby Jones, Christian Näthe, Clare-Hope Ashitey, Lisa Vicari, Karima McAdams and Christiane Paul.
Hijack was a huge hit for Apple TV when it debuted in 2023, becoming the streamer’s second series to feature in the Nielsen streaming charts with 357 million minutes of viewing time during the week of its finale, reports The Hollywood Reporter. It also earned waves of praise from critics and holds a 90% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Guardian criticised a ‘duff note’ in Hijack’s first episode but hailed the remainder as ‘seamless’, saying: “All turbulence is intended and the landing impeccable.
“Perfect nonsense, to be enjoyed wholeheartedly.” The Observer said: “Hijack is tension-filled and gripping, often putting the viewer on the edge of their seat.”
The first episode of Hijack season two – titled ‘Signal’ – is streaming now and will be followed by one episode every Wednesday until March 4. It follows the season three premiere of Disney+’s Tell Me Lies, while Game of Thrones spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms comes to Sky Atlantic on January 19.
