‘Sorry guys’

Iceland has issued something of an apology to customers ahead of a major Sunday change.

The UK retailer is known for its frozen foods, fresh grocery items, and more. Iceland has almost 1,000 stores across the country, including its The Food Warehouse brand. Back in 2023, Iceland shocked shoppers when it unveiled a hybrid dish combining two classics. The Twisted Chicken Tikka Lasagne was met with mixed reaction, with the 400g ready meal described as “Cooked diced chicken thigh in a tikka sauce layered between cooked free range egg pasta, topped with a curry spiced cheese sauce and curry spiced mix of diced potatoes and sliced onion.”

The dish was discontinued, although Iceland joked on Facebook last month “Guys!! We’re bringing back the Chicken Tikka Lasagne… on the 29th Feb.” And it seems the supermarket’s social media team is poking fun at the product again.

In posts on X, formerly Twitter, and Facebook today (March 28), the retailer said it was “sorry”. The updates read: “The hour we lose on Sunday was the hour we were going to bring back the Chicken Tikka Lasagne, sorry guys!!!”

Iceland is, of course, referring to the clocks “springing” forward tomorrow morning – 1am on Sunday, March 29. This marks the official start of British Summer Time (BST).

People across the UK will “lose” an hour. Although this will be “returned” when standard time resumes on the last Sunday in October.
