Bruno Fernandes has been out of the heart of a Manchester United row after claiming that the Red Devils wanted him to leave and Ian Wright has now offered his thoughts
Ian Wright has claimed that Arsenal would sign Bruno Fernandes ‘tomorrow’ after calling out Manchester United chiefs. The Portuguese playmaker has put his future at Old Trafford in major doubt by claiming that the Red Devils wanted him to leave in the summer.
United have however insisted that Fernandes remained key to their plans and they did not want to sell him. The Portuguese midfielder has now fired an ultimatum at his bosses, saying that he will only stay with the club so long as he is wanted.
As the row continues, Arsenal icon Ian Wright has shared his thoughts and claimed the Gunners would snap Fernandes up should he leave United.
Speaking on The Overlap, Wright said: “When you look at Bruno’s quotes, it comes back to Man United being indecisive. So someone comes in for Bruno Fernandes last summer… you shut that down.
“He didn’t want to go. Bruno is basically saying the club went, ‘it’s up to you if you want to leave’. That’s not what you want to hear when you’re the person who has basically held the club up by yourself.

“You want the club to say, ‘you’re not going nowhere, you’re a massive part of this’. But Manchester United didn’t do that.
“They gave him the option and said, ‘if you want to go, you can go’. What is that saying to him? I would take him tomorrow.”
Wright’s comments come after Fernandes broke rank to share his stance on an exit from Old Trafford. Speaking while on international duty earlier this year, he said: “I could have left like many people do and said: ‘I want to leave, I don’t want to train, I just want to leave for €20m or €30m, so they pay me more on the other side.’ But I never did that. I never felt in a position to do that, because I felt that the empathy and affection I had for the club were the same.

“But there comes a point where, for them, money is more important than anything. The club wanted me to go, I have that in my head. I told the directors this, but I think they didn’t have the courage to make that decision.
“I decided to stay, also because of family reasons, but because I genuinely like the club. The conversation with the manager also made me stay. But, from the club’s side, I felt a bit like, ‘if you leave, it’s not so bad for us.’ It hurts me a lot.
“More than hurting, it makes me sad because I’m a player they have nothing to criticise about. I’m always available, I always play, good or bad. I give my all. Then you see things around you, players who don’t value the club as much and don’t defend the club as much… that makes you sad.”
