If you’re sick of splurging over £20 on mascaras for them to need replacing in six months, look no further because this £3.50 one is a real showstopper for any occasion

Many mascaras are priced over £20 these days, so if you’re searching for something a little more purse-friendly, look no further.

I’m a former make-up artist, and I can safely say that just because something is expensive, doesn’t mean that it’s going to give you the look you’re after – especially when it comes to mascara.

As someone with hooded eyes, I used to find that mascara would end up ringing around the top of my eye in a weird sludge, ruining my eye-shadow and my mood once I noticed it while I was out and about.

I used to always reach for the Two Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and the Benefit Roller Lash until I started wearing make-up again post-pandemic, and both mascaras just didn’t work for me anymore. So I had to find something else that made my lashes look lush, stat.

And hunt I did until somebody recommended Primark’s £3.50 WonderLash to me. At first, I scoffed in make-up snobbery. “Primark mascara? I think not,” I seethed as I wondered how on Earth a budget fast-fashion store would have the means to create a mascara that was going to rock my world.

But it did rock my world, and almost four years later, it’s still a staple in my make-up bag. I’m seriously dreading the day they discontinue it, as often happens with Primark beauty favourites.

On TikTok, people say they have been “blown away” by the results, and the fact the mascara “genuinely makes lashes look longer”, and I seriously agree. The mascara is the perfect consistency, doesn’t clump, and can last a day without dropping under your eyes – even when you’re in a sweaty club.

When it’s almost time to throw it away (after six months), it does start to get dry and begins flaking black bits on your nose, which can be majorly annoying when you’ve spent a long time perfecting your base, so I’d recommend keeping a note of when it’s time to bin the old one in favour of a new one.

Apparently, it’s a dupe of a Benefit mascara, but I’ve never used the one it claims to be like (They’re Real, £27) so I couldn’t compare the two, but what I can say is the Primark one is certainly my showstopper and will remain in my make-up bag for as long as I can be bothered to make my lashes look as long and luscious as they possibly can.

In fact, it’s one of the only reasons I go in Primark, and I make sure I pick up at least two each time I go in. If you’re looking to save over £20 a pop and still have the lashes of your dreams, I’d 100% recommend.
