If you’re fed up with spending a fortune on concealer or make-up in general, then this £4.99 product may be just what you’re looking for as it’s creamy, hydrating, and contains skin-loving ingredients

Splashing the cash on make-up can sometimes feel frivolous – especially if you’re saving up for a mortgage or a holiday.

But just because something is cheap doesn’t mean it’s going to be bad – as I found out with Collection Cosmetics’ latest concealer offering.

Over the years, I’ve tried many concealers – from Tarte to Mac, Rimmel to Maybelline and more, and I’ve found my firm make-up bag favourites along the way after wearing them for a full day to see whether they stand the test of time.

I’m a dedicated Huda Beauty concealer kinda person these days, opting for the £26 faux filter in the shade Honey 1.7B. It’s creamy, high coverage, and highlights perfectly. But when I found out Collection Cosmetics was bringing out a hydrating concealer of their own, I knew I had to try it – especially as social media went wild for it.

The newly launched ‘Lasting Perfection Ultra Coverage Concealer’ from Collection promises “long-lasting, buildable coverage,” just like the Huda one I’m used to.

It’s “designed to provide a flawless finish and give a blurred effect to the skin” and “ensures a crease-proof, seamless application,” and also makes “pores look less visible”.

It has an XL-doe foot applicator, which I love, and is “infused with skin-loving ingredients, Hyaluronic Acid and Jojoba Seed Oil”. It’s also apparently water-resistant (which I didn’t try out) and will not transfer.

I tried shade 3N (ivory neutral) because I thought it was most similar to my Huda shade, and while the shade wasn’t perfect for me as it was slightly too yellowy than I’d normally go for, I was really impressed with the concealer.

I wasn’t the only one who was confused by the shade range, either. Someone on Superdrug’s website left a review saying it took them “a bit of time” to work out their perfect shade, but they were “glad” when they did.

On Collection’s website, someone was as impressed as me, writing: “It really does give ultra coverage, it lasts all day but isn’t dry and cakey. Definitely buying this one from now on”.

When I first put on the product, I was really impressed. It is as creamy and hydrating as it promises – but like I said, the shade wasn’t quite right for me. It was just ever so slightly yellowy. But I can’t wait to try it in different shades.

It blends nicely and covers any dark circles, and if you have fine lines, it won’t settle into them thanks to the fact it is so creamy. The formula is genuinely so nice for the price and can easily hold its own when faced with designer competitors.

It also lasts without caking or creasing, which is a big win. I want to be able to wear my favourite concealer without it needing to be reapplied if I’m out all day.

For £4.99, if you’re in a pinch one month and can’t really justify the price of your designer concealer, I’d highly recommend this one. In fact, I think that when I get my shade locked in, I may even be tempted to make the switch.
