As we countdown to Stranger Things season 5 dropping on Netflix, KFC has released a Hawkins-themed menu including a limited edition burger and wings with a special secret sauce
KFC has released a Stranger Things burger just in time for the final chapter of the supernatural story to premiere on Netflix. Created by the Duffer brothers, the show follows a group of friends through 1980s Indiana as they witness supernatural forces and secret government exploits.
Now in its final season, fans can’t wait to learn how the group will respond to Vecna’s intention to destroy humanity and reshape the world according to his own vision. Season five is set to be released in three stages – with four episodes on November 26, another three on December 25, and the finale on December 31.
A KFC statement reads: “Hawkins may be locked down but we’re still selling Hawkins Fried Chicken. Try our limited edition Burger or Wings. The Stranger Things Burger – Spicy Zinger fillet drizzled in our new sweet & spicy Secret Sauce with cheese, pickled slaw & burger dressing all topped off with our limited-edition red glazed bun. Over and out!
“The Stranger Things Burger and Stranger Wings at your local KFC for collection and delivery for a limited time only. Grab them before they go on the 4th of January!”
Trying the burger for the first time, TikTok user @khoslaa reviewed the meal while sharing her confusion over its appearance.
She said: “KFC just released a brand-new Stranger Things menu including a red burger and stranger wings. It looks like a rainbow Krabby Patty (from Spongebob SquarePants), I have to try this.
“Why is the bun red? I don’t get it. They also have a brand new secret sauce that’s on the burger and on the wings.
“This literally tasted like a Zinger burger times 1000. That secret sauce was insane mixed with the mayonnaise as well. It’s sweet at first with a little bit of a kick. It tastes like sweet chili sauce. 10/10.”
Commenting on her video, one user said: “I tried it it was actually so nice but a kick of spice.”
Another user asked: “Why is it red?”
A third user said: “Spider verse burger flashbacks.”
Another user said: “Red because it’s like the main colour in the Upside Down [in reference to the Stranger Things universe].”
A final user said: “Burger was OK, needed more sauce. Won’t be getting it much but the wings, OMG they’re boss.”
Stranger Things release
Speaking about the upcoming season, a Netflix statement reads: “The highly anticipated fifth and final season will release on Netflix across three premiere dates with Volume 1 on November 26 (four episodes), Volume 2 on Christmas (three episodes) and The Finale on New Year’s Eve. Each volume releases at 5 PM PT.
“The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown.
“Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding.
“As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread.
“The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
