The Panasonic Rechargeable Water Flosser Series 800 is sure to upgrade your dental hygiene routine with its Ultrasonic technology, and it’s currently reduced by £50

You know when you get a carpet cleaner and discover your regularly-vacuumed and visibly clean rugs are actually still pretty dirty – that’s what it’s like to get a water flosser. And after using the Panasonic Rechargeable Water Flosser Series 800 , I’ll never go back to just using a toothbrush.

In fact, the brand suggests that, even if you believe you’ve thoroughly brushed your teeth, about 40 per cent of food particles remain when cleaning with a regular toothbrush. But after upgrading my dental routine with an oral irrigator , my teeth look and feel cleaner and fresher, as if I’ve been to the dentist every single day.

Originally £159.99, this newly-launched device is now £109.99, saving you a nifty £50 off the RRP, Wales Online reports . I was initially using a budget water flosser I’d picked up on Amazon for under £20 and loved how it enhanced my teeth cleaning regime. So after realising it was a gadget I would actually use without the novelty wearing off, I decided to upgrade and invest in a more premium model.

Elsewhere, the Waterpik Cordless Plus Water Flosser WP-492UK is currently on offer at Boots for £37.49 , down from £74.99. Meanwhile, the COSLUS Water Teeth Flosser on Amazon is currently £22.99 and a great budget-friendly option if you want to give water flossing a go before investing in a higher-end device.

Straight out of the box, the Panasonic 800 looks incredibly sleek and will look stylish on any bathroom vanity. It comes with two nozzles, the Ultrasonic Nozzle and Orthodontic Nozzle, as well as a charging cable and, unusually, an EU two-pin plug. Fortunately, I had an adapter I could use to charge the device, though I can understand this might be frustrating for anyone looking to use it immediately and may need to order a plug.

The water flosser took around an hour to fully charge, which gives you 10 minutes of use. It doesn’t sound like a lot of time, but you only need to use the flosser for a minute or two each use, so you’ll likely find it’ll need charging once a week.

This water flosser boasts a large-capacity tank that holds 200ml of water. It’s a bit more challenging to fill than my previous model, as you have to use the hole in the tank rather than unscrewing it from the device, but it’s still pretty straightforward and mess-free.

Once filled with water – I prefer tepid or lukewarm water – you can select from five levels of water pressure adjustment. Personally, I’m a fan of setting four, but it’ll depend on your gum sensitivity, which you like the best.

What sets this apart from your average water flosser is its Ultrasonic technology. The patented nozzle and unique water pump work together to create water vapour bubbles.

These bubbles burst onto teeth and gums, generating a shock wave that boosts the cleaning power. When rinsing, I noticed that the water I was spitting out was discoloured – proof that it’s really getting between the teeth to remove food debris. It’s one of those gross but strangely satisfying things, because you know it’s doing its job.

While a water flosser might not be at the top of everyone’s Christmas list, practical gifts that are used daily can often be the most appreciated. It’s also ideal for anyone planning to prioritise their oral health as a New Year resolution.

Despite only being launched earlier this year, it’s already racked up a number of positive reviews from shoppers. One said: “I recently bought this water flosser, and it’s by far the best I’ve ever used! The water pressure is perfect, easy to use, the design, and after using it for a month, my gums feel healthier than they have in a long time.

“I’ve had experience with other water flossers, but this one stands out for its effectiveness. The only downside was the delivery—it took almost a month to arrive, which was frustrating. Despite that, the product itself is amazing and well worth the wait if you’re not anxious.”

Another added: “Great quality dental flosser. It seems more controlled than the generic brand I have used. Produces a powerful jet of water for cleaning between teeth. It has 5 pressure settings and is easily recharged via USB/Mains. Ideal for clearing out debris between teeth and making your mouth feel nice and clean.”

“I’ve been using the Panasonic 800 for a month now and find it easy and effective to use,” said a third. “The only downside is when using it on high settings, the water consumption is high, and it needs refilling three or four times for each session. Battery life is pretty good, even on high settings where I get around 6 days between charges.”

For me, the only negative is that you can’t currently purchase replacement nozzles for the flosser. Previously, my household shared a flosser, but had our own colour-coordinated nozzles that we switch out every use, so it’s just worth bearing in mind that there’s only one nozzle set included.
